Roast Tofu Block

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 300 g marinated/smoked/plain tofu block
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce/tamari sauce
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • thumb fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 fresh chilli, finely sliced
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven for 20 minutes to 180C. Grease a small oven tray with olive oil.
  • Score the tofu diagonally on the top so the marinating liquid can penetrate
  • The marinated tofu comes already marinated in soy sauce. You can add a little more soy sauce to this. If you have plain tofu, add extra soy sauce and leave it to marinate for an hour or so before cooking.
  • Add the maple syrup, ginger, chilli, salt and pepper. Feel free to add your own spices and flavourings such as chopped spring onions, garlic, sesame seeds.
  • Put in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes to roast. The maple syrup goes all caramelly which is delicious.
  • You can eat this as is - hot or add the block to noodles or rice or vegetables.
