Game of Thrones tea party in pictures

November 2, 2014 7 Comments Filed Under: Food, Recipes, Uncategorized

Some of these recipes are in my new book MsMarmitelover’s Secret Tea Party coming out on November 27th. Please pre-order this and buy it for all your friends and family. It’s a great Christmas gift. Support little writers like me rather than the TV chefs this Christmas! The book is beautifully produced and designed, with a red, white and gold cover and a ribbon.

The food:
One thing, at tea parties, there are often a lack of savouries. I make sure there are enough. With the below menu, I tried to represent all the different realms in Game of Thrones.

The drinks:
Teapot cocktail: champagne, sloe gin and winter spice syrup
Barry’s tea
Dandelion wine

The savouries:
Dolmades from Dorne
Black Watch tarts (anchovy, red onion, black olive)
Black bread with mackerel paté (recipe in my new book)
Dragon egg tartlets (tea eggs and vol au vents)
Wild mushroom pies

The sweets:
Lemon cupcakes
Lemon french fancies
Honey spiced biscuits
Blackberry tart
Iron Throne cake (many themed cakes use ready to roll fondant, which looks good but tastes awful. I was determined to make a fully edible cake, all chocolate buttercream and ganache).
Meringue dragon/cream swans

The costumes and guests:
Olenna Tyrell, who used her secret vial of poison to spike drinks at the feast
Mance Rayder, who used his homemade sword to cut the Iron Throne cake while rattling his bones
Arya Stark came with Littlefinger
Ygritte the wildling came with her real life dad
Cersei Lannister came with a lady of the court
Jon Snow arrived with a new girlfriend
I came as the opening credits, in my map dress

Jon Snow and Ygritte
Littlefinger and Aria Stark (in real life dad and daughter)
Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) and Mance Rayder (in real life my mum and dad)

    No one died though, right?

Game of thrones feasts tend to be quite dangerous, but no one died this time!

I haven't watched the show but I know what the throne is meant to look like (the one made of swords) and the chocolate version looks very impressive!

Thanks Janice. I think this new book is a real bargain, at present only £12 on amazon and it's bigger than my last book which is £25!
