Susan Black has a show in which she performs Edith Piaf. She came along and sang at my Edith Piaf lunch. It’s extraordinary but she doesn’t speak French, she learn it all phonetically. The combination of her voice and Tom Baker’s accordion along with Absinthe cocktails from Pernod made one of my most memorable events. Do go and see her, I think she’s brilliant.

Gratin dauphinois/e (after much debate on Twitter, it appears ‘dauphinois’ should be masculine. But I’ve decided that with extra cream it’s feminine and I make mine with a high cream to potato ratio!)
