Cooking on a volcano

January 5, 2012 2 Comments Filed Under: Uncategorized

A few years ago The Teen and I visited Guatemala and the active volcanos outside of Antigua and Guatemala city. Walking up the ash mountain to the top where hot lava blistered from the crater was an awesome experience. It was not only the heat but the sound…like aluminium cans being crushed, that were impressive. It’s quite a dangerous ‘tourist’ activity, people frequently die on these visits. Still I’d recommend it. We toasted marshmallows and grilled corn on the cob. Now that would be a cool pop up!

The power of nature and all that, it's terrifying up close. If you tripped you'd be in trouble. But the food had a nice volcanic ash flavour about it.
