Super moot: Cannibalism

July 15, 2008 1 Comment Filed Under: Food, Recipes, Uncategorized

Drumming goddess from the Temple of the 64 Yoginis in India

My notes on a talk by Mogg Morton.
There is secrecy in magical orders but not so much in religion. Buddhism, for instance, is the opposite of esoteric – it’s for the people. Although Brahmanism does have a caste system, anyone who has an education has access to esoteric Hinduism; there are no secrets.
Tantra is a culty thing. In 1980 I joined Amookos, the Arcane and Magical Order of the Knights of Shamballa,  a proto-hippy cult run by Dadaji. Dadaji once met Crowley who advised him:
” Don’t bother with O.T.O., just go to India instead.”
He took his advice and moved there. He died in 1992, acknowledged by the Indian Government.

Amookos traces itself back to fishermen. Founders of magical orders are often from humble backgrounds. The founder of Neo-Platonism was a dockworker in the 7th century.

There are 3 stages of development of Tantra:

1) Early: during the 6th/7th century: Kula-clan or family (not blood relations-you choose your family). They held extremist, in your face, rituals in graveyards involving sex orgies and scarlet women, Dakinis, who spend their time killing babies and drinking blood ‘Kula fluid’. The hero must eat wild meat. He is bribed by the Dakinis offering their sexual fluids. There was a unique recipe for this potion for each clan. Only then can the hero get magical powers.

2) Kaula is a watered down version, more mellow and discreet. Secret societies meet at new or full moon in forests. This can be done internally also (via visualisation).

3) The final internal mentalistic approach to magical tradition was very mainstream. The inventors of Kundalini yoga ‘tantra’. All Hindu practice is Tantric. Eight is a significant number in Hindu tradition.

There is a connection between Egypt and Tantrism, the east/west tradition, the Typhonian approach to Thelema. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was originally called The Society of Eight. Egyptian tradition improvised chaos magick. The Greek Orphic ideas sound Indian.

In the Hindu alphabet there are eight vowels: with them you can construct a mantra. With free-form vowel song, you can make up your own mantra. The eight vowels represent Yoginis, females that are half human/half spirit. Magick is trafficking with that, not goddesses.
Puja is an offerings ritual. Sex and death are linked in Tantra along with the theme of cannibalism, of wild meat, of human flesh. Crowley talked of Jews eating babies, a blood libel, the ultimate meal you shouldn’t eat. The Cake of Light has human flesh within it (blood and semen).
Ancient burial ritual involves eating of flesh, of the departed or a relative. Burials often entail kissing or eating near the dead body. In the bible, they eat the flesh of their enemies, drink their blood to make them stronger.
The best blood is the ‘moon monthly’ blood or the placenta.
Cannibalism doesn’t require anybody to be murdered.
Tantric sex is controlled by women adepts. It also involves communion with disease entities (which you find in voodoo). Diseases have special powers; you must make a pact with them. These diseases especially afflict children. Abortion is a good thing. An entity that causes abortion could have uses.
Yoginis are tree or bird goddesses (often water fowl). They are from a folksy tradition and are not elite. These are martial women who are powerful and connected to the flow of blood. Like witches, who are probably their forebears, they possess the ability to fly. Their temples are always isolated and open to the sky. They never practice Yoga. Why? Because they existed before Yoga.
The Yogini are female but in Tibetan Buddhism it has been translated into yogi, a male.
The incubi and the succubi, the old hag (a secret tradition in Hermeticism) over time have been moderated and turned into metaphors.
Sex in kaula rites is never conventional. It is oral more than penetrative:
“If you want to succeed you must suck seed”

The primary mode of transference of knowledge is by fluid transfer, semen, blood. If you want to seduce someone, you must do it through food, feeding by hand. (For example, in India, trainers of elephants feed them a ball of food in the same shape as an embryo.)

It is not a male dominated tradition but that has been hidden in recent books, for example, ‘Passionate enlightenment’ by Miranda Shaw shows how women have been downplayed. The feminine, Shakti, is often a low-caste woman who has skills.
The special relationship between humans and the bird kingdom still exists: look at the fear of avian flu for instance. Birds are seen as carriers of disease. They are also associated with the soul or the self. The stork delivers babies. Water fowls are very important in Egyptian mythology. The swan or the goose can represent the soul also.
One of the most powerful mantras, Soham, means ‘breathing’, means ‘swan’. In Tantra, lungs are the wings of a waterfowl.
They still exist…

Have you heard of the "Mothman"? Maybe he's moved to Mexico!

Someone on a forum claimed it was a type of experimental one-man aircraft. Unfortunatly I can't find the vid of it. But if it is then what's it doing in Mexico? Also the aircraft is jet-powered and very loud.

I went to a pre Christmas event at @themontgomerie I went to a pre Christmas event at @themontgomeriegarden hotel in Bloomsbury last night. It was hosted by the German tourist board promoting Saxony. I saw mini workshops of crafts from Nuremberg- these little 25 point Moravian paper stars ( each one takes an hour to make), finely whittled & carved wooden Christmas decorations , @meissen_germany porcelain, smoking wooden figurines ( filled with incense, nutcrackers, authentic stollen, Nuremberg ginger bread, white mulled wine and some lovely canapés. Going to try to make a stollen myself. You must always cut it in the middle, so you can put it together so it doesn’t get stale. I found out Colditz, the famous TV drama is in Saxons. I’d love to visit. It all got me in the Christmas mood @visit_germany @visitsaxony_ @visitdresden #christmas #stöllen #germanyinlondon

On the secret platform of the jubilee line at Char On the secret platform of the jubilee line at Charing Cross, now disused, we were treated to a fabulous cheese inspired fashion show by the fashion students of @ualfoundation and @3ddafoundation The cheeses featured were cantal, comté, tomme de savoie, saint nectaire, fourme d’ambert, époisses, Brills-savaging, Camembert, Brie and langres. The outfits were so creative and deeply researched by the designers. @thecheeseexplorer explained that during the tastings, some designers had never tasted those cheeses before. Anglo French @tatty_macleod came and is one of the judges. It was surreal and fun. Afterwards we were treated to a groaning cheese platter table at the bottom of the escalators. Then I joined the commuters of the london tube journeying home. Food and fashion are often opposed: to be fashionable you must not eat. This turns it on its head. @hopscotch_season #london #cheese #fashionandfood #cheesesoffrance

I picked a few kilos, 3 kilos after sorting through. I put them, crushed, stones included, in a clean glass container, with 1.5 kilos of sugar and 2 litres of gin ( I may add another), I’ll leave them for 3/4 weeks then filter. Damson gin for Christmas.

I’ve got Covid (day3) so not much food in the ho I’ve got Covid (day3) so not much food in the house. I found some floppy- going black- carrots in the salad drawer, so I peeled and resuscitated those. Chopped them into a saucepan with a couple of cubes of vegetable stock and a litre of hot water. Then I added a couple of tablespoons of smooth peanut butter, a clove of garlic, 1 tsp of ground cumin, half a preserved lemon. Just stuff I had around. Simmered till the carrots were soft then blended in the @vitamixuk I can honestly say the vitamix is my most regularly used bit of kitchen kit. Anyway- hey presto- a high protein soup with fibre. I hope I test negative before I totally run out of food. #solo #covid #highprotein #soup
I wrote this long read for @scotnational about the I wrote this long read for @scotnational about the anti G8 camp in Stirling to protest against the G8 in Gleneagles. I partipated in the camp & protest along with my daughter @siennamarla playing in the samba band, part of the Pink Bloc. The camp was an incredible experience- the possibility of a different type of politics, of horizontal democracy. It was also a lot of fun. But our protest was tragically overshadowed by the 7/7 bombings in London. We wanted to create a new world but by the actions of a few disaffected British Muslim terrorists our positive movement for change was drowned out by hideous violence against normal ordinary people. Here is my account. 20 years anniversary #7/7 #londonbombings #scotland #antig8 #protest #gleneagles
Cheap stuff. Since the pandemic money has been tig Cheap stuff. Since the pandemic money has been tight. I shop at Lidl and aldi for food, Vinted, Portobello and Primark for clothes. The first pic is gazpacho with a banderilla from Lidl. They often have Spanish weeks and other nationality foods at a bargain price. I love those huge cartons of gazpacho- I glug it down like juice, especially in the heat. The banderillas are sold by the jar. Second pic is me in a primark vest, cardi, with an Anthropologie sale belt and old denim shorts from 10 years ago. Sorry about the mess behind, I sold a piece of furniture, a desk I found on the street, painted enamel green with ‘bamboo’brass handles which I sold on eBay for £225 #needsmust #thrift
